Mission Statement: APWA-NC’s Young Professionals
Young professionals are the life blood of American Public Works Association’s North Carolina Chapter and its’ communities. Whether you are new to North Carolina or a native, new to public works or a pro, APWA-NC Chapter’s Young Professionals (YPs) can help you connect through a multitude of opportunities. Throughout the year, the YPs will host events throughout North Carolina, which can be social in nature and vary from white water rafting to meeting at a local brewery or baseball game. When possible, the YPs believe in giving back to our communities and will also host events centered around different causes, such as kayak clean-ups or hosting food drives. Additionally, the YPs offer a mentorship program by pairing young professionals of APWA-NC with the more experienced professionals in the organization. This one year long mentorship allows a mutually beneficial relationship for both parties to grow skills, learn new ways of doing things, and connect with someone you may not have had an opportunity to do so with before.
North Carolina’s Chapter of APWA offers a strong history of rising professionals. The YP Committee brings support to APWA-NC that helps strengthen the involvement of young, rising, and phasing professionals in this organization, our communities, and the state. The goal of this Committee is to provide career guidance, fellowship, and networking opportunities that will continue to grow APWA-NC by promoting a healthy combination of socials, training, volunteer opportunities, regional leadership, resources and the opportunity for mentorship at all levels.
For additional information and for the most up to date ongoings of the APWA-NC YPs, please check out the “News” section of the website, or APWA-NC quarterly newsletter.
