Join us in celebrating National First Responders Day on October 28th! This is the perfect time to highlight and celebrate the role public works plays as critical responders who are often first in and last out during a natural disaster.
Here are three steps you can take today:
- Download the NFRD sample proclamation and submit to your governor’s or mayor’s office.
- Download MP3 files of 15- and 30-second Public Service Announcements (PSAs). Then, contact your local radio stations and ask them to air the PSAs.
- Gather photos of your team serving as first responders in your community to use in social media posts leading up to NFRD. Example photos would include: crews removing trees and limbs from roadways following a storm, public works professionals putting up barriers in preparation for a public event, or snowplow drivers clearing the roads during winter weather conditions.
If you celebrate with your team, let us know! We’d be thrilled to share any photos or stories of how you chose to celebrate on our social media pages. You can reach out Social Media Chair, Magda Holloway, at magda.holloway@summitde.com.
