Mission Statement

To grow, connect, develop, and empower the members of North Carolina APWA Chapter

Objectives

The objectives of the committee, in support of APWA North Carolina Chapter’s Strategic Goals and Activities, are:

 

  • Membership: Deliver an outstanding and valuable membership experience
  1. Increase engagement of members by helping them establish meaningful connections with public works peers.
  2. Actively recruit communities, organizations, and individuals into APWA.
  3. Connect, develop, and empower members of public works within the organization.
  4. Encourage participation from public works professionals from across all communities in North Carolina.
  5. Actively promote the value of APWA membership through chapter engagement platforms.

 

  • Service to Members
  1. Foster acceptance of different backgrounds and perspectives by promoting an organization with processes that are inclusive of all individuals.
  2. Enhance the experience of members by encouraging member participation in the North Carolina chapter by identifying opportunities for new members to participate in development and promotion.
  3. Connect members to leaders in the chapter and platforms that promote their contributions to the public works industry.
  4. Guide the cultivation of public works leadership development in North Carolina.
  5. Promote the importance and value of APWA education and credentialing for growth and development of members.
  6. Encourage participation in Chapter educational opportunities.
  7. Promote education topics on technology, sustainability, and diversity.

 

  • Advancement in Public Works and Sustainability
  1. Develop public understanding and appreciation of the positive impact of public works by sharing the contributions of members in public works fields.
  2. Track trends and technology improvements in public works.
  3. Promote sustainability in APWA activities.
  4. Support organizational sustainability initiatives in the public works industry.

 

Members: The Connect Committee will be comprised of individuals responsible for representing Membership, Diversity, Technology, Young Professionals, and Sustainability. Membership of the Connect Committee will be limited to a maximum of 5 years for any individual.
